New e-book scheme for course texts

The Edinburgh Business School is to produce its learning texts as e-books.

The new files will allow students at the school, part of Heriot-Watt University, to read course texts on mobile devices such as Kindle, iPad or tablet.

The e-books, which will be released on Monday via the downloads section of the course websites, are available only to registered students.

There is no additional charge to students to gain access to them.

Students will be able to access internal links within the text and those with visual impairments will be able to listen to audio on devices which have a “read to me” feature.

Depending on the device they use, students can also make annotations, add bookmarks and access dictionary definitions.
