Looking forward to the challenges of leading a school is new Paradykes Primary head teacher Tim Wallace.
Mr Wallace (37) joins the Loanhead school following the retirement of Jack Smith, who had been head for 28 years.
“It has been great,” said Mr Wallace of his first few days at the helm. “It is a lovely school. The children and staff have been very welcoming.
“I get a real sense of fun around here. The staff clearly have fun with the children and the children are very keen to come and talk about what they have been up to. It is great the children can come up and do that.”
Mr Wallace will be looking at ways of developing communication with parents and making sure they are involved in the school. He is also keen to see improvements to the school building.
He also has strong ideas about early intervention in school with regards literacy and numeracy.
“That to me is a big priority,” he said.
