New Loanhead Kabin opens doors

The skirl of the pipes and a flash of tartan heralded the opening of Loanhead’s newest community facility.

The £1.3 million Kabin was officially opened by Midlothian Provost Adam Montgomery. He was joined at the ribbon cutting ceremony by Derek Cummings, chairman of Loanhead Community Learning Centre, establishment head Irene Hogg and Midlothian Council’s education director Donald MacKay.

Highland dancers Lucy Witherspoon and Eve Bernard performed to music from Scotpipe Pipe Band.

The Kabin is situated adjacent to Loanhead Community Learning Centre in Mayburn Walk.

The new centre houses a number of facilities, which aim to bring the community and outreach areas together. These include a cafe, environmental green room, a laundry and ironing service, a charity shop and soft play area.
