Newtongrange Silver Band is having a memorial concert for the late Grant O’Connor who played with the band for 22 years.
The concert to mark the third anniversary of his death will take place in Newtongrange Church this Friday, at 7.15pm.
Grant, from Newtongrange was a cornet player with the band and its band secretary.
A wide range of popular music will be played in Grant’s memory.
The East Linton community Choir will also be performing, conducted by Grant’s former music teacher, Lorraine Cormack.
Band chairman and Grant’s father, David O’Connor, said: “The response has been amazing and the band are working very hard on the programme.
“I am sure the whole evening will be enjoyable and a fitting tribute to Grant’s memory.”
Grant’s sister Claire added: “We are hoping for a full house, firstly in memory of Grant but also to raise the profile of the band. Grant loved the band. It should be a fantastic night. It means a lot to the family.”
Tickets are now on sale from Newtongrange Library, the Dean Tavern, band secretary Jackie Fraser and also from family members. Tickets are priced £7(£5 concession).
