Pupils’ from a primary school have been busy making a new record with a top musician for the Commonwealth Games celebrations.

P4 and P5 pupils from Newtongrange Primary School have written and composed a tune with musician and producer Alan Penman ahead of the Queen’s Baton relay making its way through Midlothan next week.

The song Good Luck in Glasgow is all about the Midlothian Commonwealth celebrations.

The pupils are due to perform the song live on-stage at the Queen’s Baton Relay celebrations in Dalkeith Country Park on Monday, June 16.

Alan is a top music producer who has worked on the Disney Channel, BBC, Cbeebies and STV.

He believes the song will work perfectly at the Midlothian Commonwealth celebrations.

He said: “I had an absolutely terrific time, the kids have really thrown themselves into it and came up with lots of great lyrics.

“It’s a big rousing anthem for the day and it will fit in nicely with the Samba band.

“And it’s great that our song is having its world premiere, just as the Baton arrives in the park.”
