Paradykes Primary pupil Niamh Graham is to be Loanhead’s 100th gala queen.
The 11-year-old will lead the town’s week-long celebrations in June.
The crowning ceremony will take place on Fountain Green on Saturday, June 23. Joining Niamh on stage will be Herald Declan Cummings and Crowning Lady Mrs Annette Perfect.
Although the festival, the oldest of its kind in Midlothian, celebrated its centenary in 2003, 2012 is a special milestone with the crowning of the 100th queen. There was no queen in 1903, or on certain years during both world wars.
Niamh’s mum, Amanda Thomson, said the family were “very, very proud” of Niamh.
