Night march shines light on rights
protesters last night took part in a “Reclaim the Night” march through the centre of Edinburgh.
The event, organised by students, began and ended at Bristo Square, and was due to be followed by a ceilidh to raise money for Shakti Women’s Aid.
It came after two recent sexual assaults in the Meadows.
On Tuesday evening a 21-year-old was sexually assaulted as she ran past the tennis courts on the north side of the park by a man who grabbed her and forced her to the ground.
That incident came after the rape of a 19-year-old girl in the Meadows the previous Tuesday.
