Penicuik’s annual Hunter and Lass celebration is to undergo a major change this year with two couples being sought for the festival.
As well as seeking a Hunter and Lass for 2015, the search is on for a Hunter and Lass Elect.
Carol Lumsden, Hunter and Lass committee chairman, said the change, selecting the 2016 couple this year, was a practice already followed by Borders festivals.
The idea is to ease the couple into their role as Penicuik’s ambassadors.
“They get eased into it and they are more relaxed. They know the people around them and what their duties are. It also gives them better support from the beginning,” explained Carol, who at 49 was the oldest Hunter’s Lass in the festival’s historyin 2005.
