Officers take second jobs

POLICE chiefs gave 30 officers permission for second jobs in the first nine months of this year, including at the Fringe and with an amateur art group.

Among the other second jobs held by officers between January and September were as an electrician, photographer, driver, interpreter, communications controller and landlord.

Other sectors where officers were employed while off duty included IT, music, sports, charity and owning businesses.

Officers have to be granted permission to take on additional jobs, and there can be “no conflict of interest” with their police duties.
