Coronavirus face masks are creating huge litter problem. So how about a snood? – Hayley Matthews
I heard recently that there are more face masks floating about now on the planet than there are jellyfish in the sea. Not sure if it’s true but with the amount of face masks we’re all going through I can quite believe it!
I mean I have about eight reusable masks in the house as well as a few disposable ones and a packet of spares just in case.

Hide AdI keep finding them all over the street and in the gutter and it just looks awful and makes me incredibly sad. How hard is it to take it home and bin it?
I moaned about the glove situation at the start of the pandemic and I’m not sure if we’ve got that under control or we’ve just stopped using gloves but I’m sure we can do the same with the face masks.
Discarded masks look awful, they are terrible for the environment and I’m sure it’s not the most hygienic either.
However I think I have the answer – a snood! You never see the odd snood kicking about on the ground. With the colder days arriving before we know it, I reckon we should all crack out the snoods! And let’s face it, they look like they offer a lot more face coverage than the wee flimsy plastic masks so I reckon we should #bringbackthesnood – and if you have no idea what a snood is, ask your granny.
