Covid: Like most, I'm trying to do my bit and avoiding conspiracy theorists' nonsense – Steve Cardownie

I have been trying to do my bit during the current lockdown but must admit that it is not as easy as some commentators have made out.

My mask has slipped on several occasions (nothing new there, I hear you say) and social distancing is not always possible when squeezing past a family occupying the greater part of a footpath. I passed my first levitation class with flying colours but then I dropped out so no help there.

Staying at home and only going out for essential purposes, such as shopping for essentials or exercise, obviously can be demanding however in my case as well as reading more, Netflix and Youtube have come to my rescue and the chance to catch up with films and gigs that otherwise would have been ignored cannot be underestimated.

The opportunity to finally get round to household improvements, however, is not one that I readily embrace. Anyway my wife says that I am useless when it comes to fixing household appliances – she’s in for a shock.

The vaccine rollout appears to have slowed down at present but still holds out hope of a brighter future, although I am baffled by the number of people who say that they will not take it, for reasons that would not be out of place in a sci-fi fantasy comic book.

I would rather get my information from trusted, regulated outlets rather than the fanciful meanderings of the usual conspiracy theorists, or bampots for want of a better description. Thankfully the vast majority have more sense.
