Karen Koren: It’s murder on the road with Janet

OUR touring production of Murder, Marple And Me will be at Musselburgh’s Brunton Theatre next week.

I’m really looking forward to seeing it again, as it has been doing the rounds down south and is coming back to Scotland for a few more shows. This one-person play is performed by my very good friend Janet Prince, and she tells me that she has been enjoying the touring experience.

Indeed, Murder, Marple And Me been doing so well that it will shortly transfer to London’s West End for a few nights.

Prior to that it will take Janet to South Shields, where she will celebrate her 60th birthday. Not that she will be able to enjoy it - there are matinee and evening performances on her birthday.

We are also touring our very successful 2012 Fringe show The Agony And Ecstasy Of Steve Jobs. This came hot on the heels of Steve Job’s untimely death. One of the most talked about pieces of theatre to come out of the USA in the last few years, it is a passionate diatribe that will make you question what you thought you knew about one of the world’s most worshipped brands.

Written by Mike Daisey, a self-confessed “worshipper at the church of Apple”, he tugs at the heart strings, and shows how one man’s story might not be able to topple an empire, but it can certainly give it a righteous shove.

Nominated for the Amnesty Freedom of Expression Award, the play is performed by Grant O’Rourke who has just finished a very successful run at the Lyceum with Takin’ Over The Asylum.
