Edinburgh councillors call for more 'transparency' on Covid-19 level three decision
Lucien Romano
I'm genuinely surprised the council even know what 'transparency' means. Maybe they could try it themselves sometime. I won't be holding my breath, though...

Hide AdTransparency! That’s actually made me laugh coming from the shifty City of Edinburgh Council regime.
Dave Moffat
All Edinburgh's elected representatives, councillors, MSPs and MPs should be pressing the FM, in private and in the media, as to why Edinburgh should be in Tier 2. All the criteria and comparisons with other areas suggest Edinburgh is doing better than most, but FM has the same old mantra – not enough evidence. How much evidence does she need? Or are we stuck where we are until it is deemed safe to reduce West Central Scotland down a bit?
Julie Sykes
More transparency around the mass surveillance systems that were effected during lockdown without a word of public consultation!
Ian McWilliam
No chance. The blind and incompetent asking the equally blind and incompetent.

Hide AdOnly because other councils have decided to put money before health and safety. Unfortunately Edinburgh feel like they should do the same.
Wendy Henderson
Can we get more "transparency" on the decisions that were made about the implementation of the new cycle ways? Some of them are death traps, the designers should be taken to task about them!
Stewart Howie
A strong and robust challenge from our councillors, who are clearly doing everything they can to support local businesses.
Jon Clark
Before these councillors demand more transparency, they might think about their own total lack of transparency. Where is the Phase 1 Tram report? Why are there no figures available for council earnings from the “Edinburgh Christmas”? Why have “emergency powers” been used to smuggle through some ridiculous expenditure during Covid? These councillors are as opaque as frosted glass, so not in a position to demand “transparency” It’s ridiculous.

Hide AdExactly, take out the Currie West figures (Heriot Watt Uni) then we should be in level two at the very least.
Kate Gibson
Good luck on getting an answer!
Willie Anderson
They have a cheek, the secrecy they hide behind while shutting the city down to most except cyclists. Incompetent officials will not answer phone calls or emails.
Frances Petrie-Hay
I'd like some transparency regarding the real figures for the trams. I know I'll be disappointed.
Brian Johnston
SNP don’t do transparency, haven’t you noticed?
Andrew Mackenzie
As soon as Glasgow etc move out of tier four we will see Edinburgh move down. It’s all political now.

I don’t see the benefit of this at all! Kids have lost enough education this year and should be in school. What chance have our future generation got with job prospects without education?
Megan Kelly
Can they just hurry up! Many parents work and need to have plans in place for additional child care! And before anyone states 'school is not a childcare service', I am aware of that, but most parents work while their children are in school, so need to plan time off etc. Their leaving a decision to the last minute as per.
Mhairi Gilston
I'd be quite happy to stop setting early morning alarms and dragging my five-year-old out of bed while tending to a baby, but if it were next year and I was back at work, I'd be panicking for childcare, so I get both sides of the argument.

Hide AdIt’s actually only like four days (or was originally) and if it means people can isolate before going back after mixing at Christmas, then surely it’s a good thing!
Laura Clouston
I welcome it. I work in a school and the kids are doing so well through all this.
