The Scottish government spent nearly £400,000 on Edinburgh's 15-minute Hogmanay ‘drone swarm’ film

Steve Lladner

Eight pence each that cost everyone in Scotland. Disgrace. That eight pence could’ve fed the hungry and helped the homeless.

How the hell did it cost that much? People can’t feed their kids yet the government and council think this is OK? It’s not as bad as the money the Conservatives and Westminster throw away, but this money could have definitely been used to help the residents get through these difficult times.

Liz Morris

It only encouraged people onto the street … money could have been better used.

Tricia Thomson

Absolutely disgusting. The council is always moaning how they are struggling. I think the money could have been put to better use, like struggling families.

Christine Jones

Struggling to get roads and pavements gritted as no "resources" .

Typical of our inept councillors, wasting money that should have been used for more pressing needs like gritting the pavements, providing care at home, repairing roads etc. Another example of how CEC just waste money on their own vanity projects. Roll on the council elections so we can get rid of this lot!

Lucien Romano

It would have been better spent on de-icing gear for the Queensferry Crossing, but no, what would us plebs do without meaningless slogans from the hypocritical elite?

Paul Taylor

Scottish Government £15 billion pound deficit. Edinburgh Council £17 million overspend....

Christopher Boe

Exactly what they should be doing. Brilliant and beautiful in equal measure.

Where have they got that kind of cash from to shell out for a film that the majority of us probably didn’t watch?

Sean Evans

Does anyone actually want to know how much it cost? Wow, anyway the film was awesome and different. Take care everyone, welcome to 2021

Sarah Cooper

Well, for 8p per person, worldwide acclaim and something that at least for a wee bit made us happy. I think it was worth it.

Janice Hurst

Worth every penny in my opinion - less than the fireworks probably and more beautiful, and if any time deserves a bit of beauty it's this one.

Robert Howlieson

Better than wasting on Spaces for People crapways.

Sammy Jane Ash

Honestly, folk can’t feed their children! What a farce!

Nazir Abid

What a waste of money.

Charalampos Koundourakis

There was a new year celebration?

Charles Pretty

They could have killed someone. Surely they could put CCTV on those bridge footpaths, so if it happens again, then they won’t get away so easily and will be caught and dealt with.

Cameron Durance

What is wrong with these youths? They need to be sent to the army to man them up – little kids could have killed, as if the country is not going through enough at the moment.

Kaz Baxter-Willey

Try to sort out some of these teens out on our streets now. There's 13-18 year olds in a big group on a corner by the shops and I'm scared to go past them all. I've seen them smoking weed, giving abuse to people and fighting in broad day light. Police can't do much, so they need sorting out in other ways.

Mindless thugs. The parents will probably say they didn't mean to hurt anyone! It's beyond a kids prank when someone almost got killed.

Daniza Molina

What is wrong with these people? Teenagers seem more aggressive and they can do whatever they want.

Lynn Oliver

Wow, they need to be shown what the consequences of what they did could have been. Disgraceful.

A Grace Rea

Do they just not care that they could have killed multiple people? It baffles me that there are psychos like that running about.

Jaime Lawrie

Should be taught in schools about the possible consequences of doing something like this.
