Over 1,000 had no TV licence

More than 1,100 people were caught watching TV without a licence in Midlothian during 2012. This compares to more than 2,800 in West Lothian and more than 900 in East Lothian.

The average evasion rate in the county remains at a low of just over five per cent, meaning almost 95 per cent of homes are correctly licensed.

A colour TV Licence currently costs £145.50 – and is required by anyone watching or recording TV programmes, whether they are using a TV set, computer, or any other equipment.
