Passengers warned of rail delays

ScotRail is urging rugby fans and customers to allow even more time than usual for their journeys on Sunday when Scotland take on France in the RBS 6 Nations at Murrayfield.

Planned improvement works by Network Rail, which include rock stabilisation and de- vegetation, are being carried out in the Fife area, including around Markinch, Thornton and Burntisland.

As a result, trains between Edinburgh and Aberdeen/Perth/Inverness will be diverted via Dunfermline and will arrive at their destinations later than advertised.

A ScotRail spokesman said: “Services to Edinburgh will be busier than usual so we are asking all passengers to set off in good time.”

The train operator also advised people to buy their tickets in advance.

A ban on the consumption of alcohol will be in place on the day.
