Midlothian Council is warning there could be some disruption to customers planning to make payment to the local authority this week.
The council is advising customers that they will not be able to handle credit or debit card payments between 3pm tomorrow (Tuesday, July 23) and 10am the next morning.
However, the cash office at Buccleuch House, Dalkeith, will still be able to take cash and cheques for council tax, rent and other invoices.
Customers can still pay their rent online but from 9pm on Tuesday the web payment system will be back on track.
Anyone who pays using the automated telephone system will not be able to do so between 3pm and 9pm on Tuesday when normal service resumes.
The contact service will also be able to handle payments from 8am on Wednesday.
The council has apologised for the inconvenience caused as it carries out upgrading work on its banking systems.
Buccleuch House will still be open for customer enquiries and appointments.
