A COMMUNITY cycling event in Midlothian has been hailed a success.
Around 200 people took part in the fifth staging of the SEStran Megacycle, one of the biggest all-abilities rides in the Lothians.
Work on the Borders rail link forced a change of route, but participants were able to enjoy a 20-mile course from High Street in Penicuik, along the former rail track to Rosewell, past Edinburgh College at Eskbank and returning to Penicuik.
Event organiser Quintin Young said: “Feedback from participants showed that many relished the slightly greater challenge and we are hopeful that the new route will attract even more participants next year.”
The Megacycle raised money for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation and other charities.
