Penicuik councillor tees up retiral

Looking forward to his “second retirement” is Penicuik councillor Ken Brown.

The Lib Dem councillor, who represented the Penicuik ward for the past five years, is stepping down at the May election.

He was elected to office after five years on Penicuik and District Community Council, which included a term as chairman.

Of his years a councillor, Ken said: “I found it quite a challenge. Originally there were three of us, and then only two. Being a smaller party, I felt it was important to try and get on well with the other parties. They might squeeze something through which we would definitely want as Lib Dems.”
