The go-ahead has been given to convert a Penicuik care home into emergency accommodation for homeless people.
At a recent full council meeting, Midlothian councillors granted planning permission, subject to conditions, for the change of use of 1a Eastfield Drive.
As reported in the Advertiser last month, the council is in the process of purchasing the bungalow from the Daughters of Charity. It has been operated by St Joseph’s Services as a residential care home.
Head of planning Ian Johnson said the aim was to use the property to provide emergency accommodation for single adults and adults with children.
