Work to make environmental improvements to Penicuik town centre has begun.
The six-week programme, being carried out by Midlothian Council, started on Monday. It is scheduled to finish mid-April.
The council has stressed that efforts will be made to ensure as little disruption as possible to local businesses.
Councillor Wilma Chalmers (Lab), Midlothian’s commercial operations spokesman, said the work would improve the town centre and hoped there would be minimum disruption during the coming weeks.
