One Penicuik youngster is definitely made of the “write” stuff.
A short story by nine-year-old Sophie McDonald has reached the final of the Scholastic Book Fairs’ national writing competition.
More than 19,000 children from schools over the country wrote their stories, poems and observations. Only 100 reached the final, and were published in the Scholastic Yearbook.
The entries were submitted through Scholastic Book Fairs’ We Are Writers project, which allows all children to become published authors in their school’s own book.
Every child at Cornbank St James Primary submitted a piece of writing for the school’s book, which was sold to parents, and Sophie (P5) wrote “Three Children, One House”.
