Civic leaders in Penicuik have publicly thanked a local restaurant for providing free meals to those in need over the festive period.
On Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, Babu-G, the Indian restaurant in John Street, supplied hot meals on a first come, first served basis.
Manager Sameed Ibrahim told the Advertiser that his staff catered for 35 dinners on Christmas Day and more than 60 on January 1.
He now hopes this community gesture will become an annual event with up to 200 meals being provided.
Mr Ibrahim added: “We are going to continue doing it. It was a pleasure doing this for the people and we will continue doing this as long as we are here.”
