Penicuik’s 2 SCOTS boys are back in town

Prince Andrew braved Penicuik’s “dreich” weather to welcome around 330 members of the 2 SCOTS home from Afghanistan.

Handing out medals to a selection of soldiers, the Duke of York joined dignitaries, and hundreds of locals, in paying tribute to the troops from The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, as the 2SCOTS are formally known.

Hundreds of people had turned out earlier as the men and women from 2 SCOTS took part in a homecoming parade through Penicuik town centre.
