Penicuik’s Hunter & Lass is a sunshine treat

Glorious sunshine provided a fitting end to a memorable Penicuik Hunter and Lass Week, which included the traditional pram race.

Around 60 horses followed Daren Cogdon and Sally Porteous to Penicuik House and over the Pentland Hills on Saturday, returning to lead 500 participants, seven bands and several decorated vehicles for the 29th Penicuik on Parade.

Committee chairman Fiona Gibson said: “The weather was changeable, but all events went very well, with good attendances.

“At the Installation ceremony on Thursday, there was great support shown for Daren and Sally by the people of Penicuik and visiting principals.” The Hunter and Lass are now preparing to attend the various other Border festivals, with their first engagement being the Whipman Play in West Linton on Friday.
