A PENICUIK school’s “excellent” report has been marred by defects with the building.
Cuiken Primary, one of Midlothian Council’s newest school buildings, was completed in late 2009.
However, school inspectors who visited in March said that while the Cuiken Terrace building was of “excellent quality”, there were still a number of snagging problems affecting the children’s wellbeing.
The HMIe report, published last week, praised the strong teamwork of staff, welcomed progress made in developing and enriching learning experiences and noted the provision made for children who required additional help with learning.
They also found confident children, who engaged well and were keen to share their experiences and learning. The school and nursery received four very good quality indicators, three good and one satisfactory.
