Penicuik Civic Society has produced its wishlist of town features it would like to see transformed for the benefit of the community’s heritage.
In his annual report, chairman David Fletcher hailed the recently completed work on the historic Penicuik House.
He also welcomed the renewal by Midlothian Council of the playing field fencing along Bog Road.
Mr Fletcher said: “Penicuik House was finally ‘opened’ in its splendid, fully conserved state, and has proved to be a major attraction for visitors from near and far.”
In a bid to preserve the town’s history and character the society has drawn up a list of areas requiring attention.
“Top of the wishlist would be work on the St Kentigern graveyard and especially the mausoleum there which is in a very poor state of repair,” said Mr Fletcher, who admitted sourcing funding was the sticking point in seeing work on this town centre feature being carried out.
