Around 40 Penicuik residents were without water for most of Thursday after a water main burst.
Some households in the Deanburn and Cuikenburn areas were supplied with bottled water while Scottish Water engineers worked to repair the damage. One local resident said most households experienced a loss of supply between 11am and 10.30pm on Thursday, July 14.
A Scottish Water spokesman said: “Scottish Water engineers worked around the clock to repair a burst water main in Penicuik which affected around 40 residents. Every effort was made to restore supplies as quickly as possible. However, the burst was complicated and while supplies were restored to many within a few hours, it was not possible to restore supplies to every property at this time.
“It was necessary to distribute bottled water to those customers for whom water was not restored until the evening. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
