Whether it be catching a football match, checking out the city’s great charity shops, visiting the Christmas market, going on a fairground ride, catching a stunning light trail or going ice skating, there are so many great things to do in Edinburgh over the festive period with friends and family.
9. Christmas shopping
Evening News editor Rhoda Morrison recommends going Christmas shopping in Edinburgh. She said: "Again, this might be an unpopular opinion but there's something about fighting your way through a busy shopping centre or street at Christmas that I have always loved. I love setting aside a day when I can wrap up warm, get a Christmas coffee and wander about the shops looking for gifts for my family and friends. It's always great to see businesses full of shoppers, especially all the brilliant independent shops in Edinburgh." Photo: Lisa Ferguson
10. Omelettes
Evening News trainee reporter Neil Johnstone loves to whip up an omelette at Christmas time. He said: "I’m not one to talk up my culinary skills very often, but I am proud to say I have reached black belt level when it comes to omelettes. And Christmas leftovers provide a perfect opportunity to make some interesting recipes - I highly recommend turkey, sweet potatoes and cheese - obviously leave out the Brussel sprouts."
