The City of Edinburgh Council suspended all pay-and-display charges when lockdown began in March in a bid to help key workers during the coronavirus lockdown.

From 22 June any vehicle parked incorrectly in a public, shared-use or residents’ parking space may be issued with a parking ticket.

Drivers are being asked to consider using the cashless payment system RingGo to reduce the need to handle coins and touch ticket machines.

Car owners with a residents’ parking permit can park in pay-and-display parking places located within their own zone, provided those bays are not subject to a suspension.

This dispensation was introduced in March and will continue to remain in place until further notice.

NHS staff and care workers can find free parking spaces to use whilst carrying out their roles.
