Edinburgh power cut: Here's why all these postcodes were without electricity tonight

Leith postcodes beginning with EH6, EH7 and EH8 are affected, according to Scottish Power.

They were made aware of the issue at around 7.49pm tonight and the problem was resolved by 9.30pm.

Statement

A statement on the Scottish Power website said: "There is a power cut affecting the EH6, EH7 AND EH8 postcode areas of Edinburgh.

"We did not know in advance there would be a power cut, and became aware of this at 7.49pm.

"Our control centre will attempt to reset the network remotely to restore power in stages, and our emergency response team are on their way to the local area to investigate and repair the fault.
