Edinburgh residents left barking mad by alleged illegal dog boarding business

The couple who wish to remain anonymous contacted the Evening News after they said that they had begun to dig into their own pockets for stays at hotels to escape the chaos.

They say that the problem has been ongoing for over five months and that Dunedin Canmore are not seeking a solution to the issue.

But Dunedin Canmore have stated that they are working with the tenant to try to find an amicable solution to the problem.

The couple also contacted the trade licensing department at the Edinburgh City Council to report what they see as a non-licensed business.

They said: “Our issue is with Dunedin Canmore who have not been helpful at all in dealing with this issue despite their claims. We sent an email to the higher licensing officer at the trading standards department at the council and they had informed us that they had contacted the resident of the property to say they have to get a license in order to operate.

“This has been half a year of hell as noise is at its peak between 11pm-4am which has meant that I have had to book hotel rooms some nights in order to be able to recover.

“The noise from the dogs is bad enough but it is added to by the fact that upstairs has non-regulation laminate flooring which means that every noise is amplified. All we are asking for is to be allowed to stay in our home without having to worry about extremely loud noises from our neighbours.”

Dunedin Canmore have responded by saying that they are handling the situation seriously and that they have been in regular contact with the couple regarding their complaints.

A Dunedin Canmore spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry this tenant is unhappy with noise from an upstairs property. We’ve been in regular contact with the tenant and will continue to work with everyone involved to sort this situation. We take any report of alleged illegal activity very seriously and in every case work closely with the relevant authorities to reach a solution.”

A council spokesperson said: “We’ve received a complaint from a neighbouring property which we’re currently investigating.”
