Edinburgh communities get ready to celebrate Christmas
Communities across Edinburgh will come together in the coming weeks to celebrate Christmas, with festive lights switch-on events taking place across the Capital and beyond.
As well as the Christmas switch-ons listed below, Edinburgh Council has also listed lights switch-ons in Prestonfield on Monday, December 12 at 5.30pm, Stenhouse on Tuesday, November 29 at 6pm, and in Roseburn on Thursday, December 1 at 4.30pm.

5. Wester Hailes
The Wester Hailes Christmas Lights switch-on events is due to take place at Westside Plaza at 5.30pm on Thursday, December 1 at Westside Plaza, pictured, according to the City Of Edinburgh Council. Also, on Thursday, December 14 a Festive Celebration takes place 12pm-2pm at The Healthy Living Centre, with craft stalls, music, carol singing and a festive community lunch. Photo: Google Maps
The Marchmont & Sciennes Community Council Christmas Lighting event takes place on Saturday, December 3 at 4.30pm, at the Christmas tree outside Scotmid on Marchmont Crescent. Carol singers will be in attendance and refreshments will be available. Photo: Marchmont & Sciennes Community Council
Sant's elves will make their way through the village from 3.30pm on Friday, December 8 to meet Santa outside the village shop at 6.30pm. The annual Bruntsfield Christmas Night is on again this year, at the Eric Liddell Community on Wednesday, December 6 from 5pm. As well as the lights switch-on, there will be Santa's Grotto, choir singing, an art show and lots of late night shopping. Photo: Contributed
