Increase in Midlothian leisure pricee

Prices for using Midlothian Council’s sport and leisure facilities and services went up by 10 per cent from April 1.

The revised fees and charges were among a package of savings agreed by the full council in December.

The increase will cover Tonezone memberships, classes and entrance fees.

A spokesman said: “We are confident our services and facilities remain good value for money and we can confirm that the free holiday swim sessions for under 18s will continue.”

At a full meeting of Midlothian Council held on December 20, 2016, council officials brought forward a new programme of savings for consideration by councillors. Although a number of the proposals were rejected, savings measures totalling £4.5 million in 2017/18 were implemented in the next financial year starting on April 1, 2017.
