Midlothian community radio station Black Diamond FM has secured £7000 of Big Lottery funding.

The ten-year-old station, which broadcasts from Newbattle Community Learning Centre in Newtongrange, will use the money to update its equipment to continue to meet OFCOM regulations.

Bob Miller from Black Diamond FM said: “Since our first broadcast on March 29, 2007, we’ve been on air pretty much 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As you may imagine, equipment that has been running for ten years has taken quite a beating and some of it is showing its age.

“To ensure we meet our OFCOM commitments a submission was made to the Big Lottery Fund Scotland and having awaited with bated breath and all fingers crossed we are very grateful to have been awarded £7000.”
