A man who raped a woman at his home in Gorebridge has been sentenced to five years in jail and an Order of Lifelong Restriction at the High Court in Glasgow today, Thursday 3rd November.

Keith Stevenson (40), was convicted of the rape of a 50-year-old woman on March 18, 2015.

The victim was visiting Stevenson’s flat in a work capacity when he violently stopped her from leaving the property and subjected her to the serious sexual assault.

Following an investigation by the Divisional Rape Investigation Unit at Dalkeith, Stevenson was arrested and charged the next day (March 19).

Detective Inspector Scott Anderson said: “Keith Stevenson preyed on this woman who simply turned up at his house to do her job.

“The victim bravely came forward to police shortly after the incident, which enabled us to react quickly to gather enough evidence to trace and detain Stevenson.

“Police Scotland treats all reports of sexual crime with the utmost seriousness and we will investigate to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
