Man who died after being hit by car on M8 is named

A 41-year-old man who died after being hit by a car on the M8 in Glasgow has been named by police.

Daniel McFarland was struck by a silver Vauxhall Astra while he was walking on the eastbound carriageway near the M77 slip road at 7.25pm on Wednesday.

Police are investigating the circumstances which led to Mr McFarland's death, and have asked for witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Jon Mochan said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Daniel at this difficult time.

"Our investigation into the crash is ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who saw this incident to contact us.

"Whether you saw a man walking along the carriageway, or were on the road at the time and have dash-cam footage, you may have information that will assist our investigation."
