Midlothian restaraunt bosses Matin Khan (right) and his son Habibur (left) have been awarded by national trade magazine Curry Life for their efforts in coming to the aid of local communities during the coronavirus crisis.

Matin’s Indian-Bangladeshi restaurant Itihaas in Dalkeith and his son’s Loanhead restaurant Radhuni have together contributed over £10,000 worth of free meals to NHS and emergency workers during the pandemic.

National trade magazine Curry Life gave both father and son the award for their efforts in coming to the aid of local communities during the crisis.

The restaurants are donating 25p to the national charity Children 1st for every takeaway purchased until December 20, to support local children. Customers are being invited to add their own contributions.

Behind Matin, a former Scottish Curry Chef of the Year, is a photo of him being presented to The Queen when she opened the Border Railway in 2015.
