Midlothian People’s Equality Group (M-PEG) is a friendly group of local people who live and work in Midlothian, writes Sandy Florence.
They have experience of, and aim to learn about and challenge, different forms of discrimination related to age, disability, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, religion and socio-economic background.
By working together M-PEG aims to promote equality and challenge prejudice and build relationships across Midlothian communities where people feel valued and trusted.
M-PEG provides a platform for Midlothian people to learn, educate, and communicate about local equality issues of concern and interest and have a voice in local policy and planning.
MPEG undertakes a variety of different projects and events across Midlothian. Our annual Equal Midlothian Week in March hosts a wide-range of lively and interesting equalities-themed events. A highlight of the week is the much-loved Midlothian Well-being Mela, a free, family-friendly event, which celebrates difference and diversity.

Come to a meeting! Meet the group and find out more about us! We are always looking for new members and are keen to hear new experiences from those who live and work in Midlothian; donate your time, skills or goods! Are you a performer, caterer or willing to donate a voucher? If you have time, skills or goods that may be useful to us for an event, volunteer training or other activity then we would be delighted to receive it.
Be the face of equality. Are you willing to talk to others about your experience of prejudice, stereotype and discrimination? We will provide support and training to people who want to support us in bringing equality issues to life.
