Anne Stewart was born on March 22, 1915 at Bellvue House, Linlithgow. She was educated at Mary Erskine School and moved onto further education in secretarial studies, which was put to good use when she moved to London and worked for the Post Office.

Upon her return home she met her husband, William (Bill). Anne and Bill married in Rosehall Church, Edinburgh in 1940. They had a son James and daughter Helen. Bill sadly passed away in 1972.

After a fall in 2015, Anne, then 100, moved into the Dalkeith home and has happily lived there since.
