Midlothian North MSP Colin Beattie recently met with representatives of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds at the SNP conference.
Mr Beattie took the opportunity to discuss wildlife issues with Lorna Scott, the RSPB’s Parliamentary officer.
Following the meeting, Mr Beattie said: “Scotland has an incredible amount of diverse and rare wildlife. The RSPB does an excellent job in helping to ensure our ecosystem can sustain all of Scotland’s creatures and habitats.
“We are taking steps to improve Scotland’s landscape by measures like promoting renewable energy. However, it is clear that more needs to be done to protect vulnerable animals.
“I thank Ms Scott for taking the time to discuss with me what further actions the Scottish Government can take. I’ll be feeding these back and I look forward to hearing more updates on the RSPB’s essential work.”
