It's not every day a fox comes right up to someone for a bite to eat...

But that's exactly what happened in Musselburgh at the weekend when Chrissy Rennie came home from a late night gym session.

Video footage shows the fox ambling up to the car in Old Course Gate before Chrissy holds out a piece of bread for the animal, which snaffles it before darting off.

The 27-year-old said: "I was sat there and saw a fox and said to my friend, 'want to give it some food?' and we tried to get it to come over to us. It came over and it took the bread and ran away.

"But we had more food and it came back about four or five times for more. I had a Rustlers burger and gave it the bread from that, then eventually just gave it the whole burger. "

Chrissy said the same fox even came up to the house a few days later and nabbed a pack of cigarettes from his friend, who was sitting by the door.

Chrissy said: "I've seen it several times and it maybe gets fed a lot from somewhere else. When I asked it to 'come here,' it understood and came up to me no problem.

"I thought it was hilarious. I've never seen a fox come up to me like that before."

It would appear the foxes are out in force in Edinburgh right now, with another of the animals spotted in Canonmills earlier this week.

Evening News reporter Conor Matchett captured a video of the animal at about 5:30am on Monday morning as it ambled towards King George V Park.

He dubbed it King George the Canonmills fox who he sees every morning when on early shifts.
