Alongside the road are the playing fields of George Watson’s College and the Royal Edinburgh Hospital in the Morningside/Polwarth area of the city.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they deployed appliances to the scene but would only say the incident was a “police matter”.

In a statement, Police Scotland told the Edinburgh Evening News: “Police Scotland received a report of a concern for a person on Myreside Road in Edinburgh around 8.55pm on Friday, 7 August.

“Emergency services attended and the man was safely passed into the care of medical staff a short time later.”

The man was uninjured.
