Desperate owners have released a plea asking for people to keep their eyes peeled as a beloved pet parakeet goes missing.

Reuben the moustache parakeet flew towards Musselburgh last Friday, February 19.

She has been described as “extremely friendly and tame and will likely fly to someone (or their pet a she likes my family dog.)”

'Not giving up hope': Desperate owners plea after beloved Parakeet lost in Edinburgh

The owners posted that a driver contacted them on Sunday morning saying that they saw a “bright, smallish bird” had been seen flying from Newhailes, Musselburgh across the road to the industrial estate.

They wrote: Please can all walkers and residents living in that area be vigilant and call us if you see the bird.

“We are praying it’s our Reuben as it’s in this area that we lost her.

“Been out all weekend looking for her and not giving up hope.

"Please keep an eye out further afield. Thank you.”
