James Harrison: Touching pictures show people gather in Edinburgh for the minute's silence to remember hero Covid nurse

Mr Harrison was killed while cycling in Edinburgh

Flowers and tributes have been left as people gather for a minute’s silence to remember James Harrison.

Mr Harrison, a lead research nurse in cardiology, was killed when his bike collided with a van at the junction of Mount Vernon Road and Gilmerton Road at about 8:45am last Thursday.

Tributes have been pouring in for the nurse, who had recently volunteered in an intensive care unit to support the coronavirus response.

Signs placed at the spot during the vigil read : “Going to miss you so much” and “will never brew a cup of tea without thinking of him”.
