Storm Darcy: Daring skaters spotted playing ice hockey on Inverleith Pond

An Edinburgh resident snapped the picture on Friday at around midday as the players took a break from their game.

On the other side of the pond, a few well wrapped-up onlookers can be seen taking in the scene as well as temperatures in the Capital were forecast to remain close to freezing today.

This isn’t the first time Edinburgh residents have made the most of the freezing weather, this incredible video, also captured by an onlooker in Inverleith Park, shows as around 30 people took the ice in January.

A few days later, impressive pictures emerged of a 77-year-old Edinburgh resident stealing the show on the frozen pond.

Growing up, Jenny Cook enjoyed skating on Haymarket Ice Rink, and wowed as she took to the ice wearing her vintage lace-up skating boots.
