But details of the superstar’s itinerary are still being kept tightly under wraps.

After George Clooney visited last year, it is believed DiCaprio’s trip will follow a similar pattern.

Fans of the Oscar winner may be able to catch a glimpse of him in the early evening as he heads to this year’s Scottish Business Awards at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, where he will be the keynote speaker.

The event begins at 5.30pm and DiCaprio is expected to deliver his speech at around 7pm, before participating in a Q&A session.

Other places fans may be able grab a selfie with the Wolf of Wall Street actor include Rose Street’s Social Bite sandwich shop.

Clooney visited the same spot last year, where he shook hands with screaming fans and posed for photographs, as well as leaving a donation.

It has also been confirmed DiCaprio will be eating lunch at Home, the new restaurant on Queensferry Street owned by the same team behind Social Bite and restaurant Maison Bleue.

However, the exact time when the star will be dining remains unknown.

Last year, George Clooney raised more than £400,000 for the homeless while he was in Edinburgh, but his record cash coup is facing fierce competition after DiCaprio confirmed he will be raising money for the same cause.

Fivers have been flying in for homeless charity Social Bite after a competition was launched for one lucky person to win lunch with the Titanic star, as well as an overnight stay in the prestigious George Hotel.

Businesses close to where DiCaprio is tipped to be visiting are remaining hopeful he may stop by.

Redge Talactac, the manager of Cafe Panino – which is just a stone’s throw from Queensferry Street’s Home restaurant – said: “We can’t believe Leonardo DiCaprio is coming.

“If we aren’t too busy I will definitely try and get out in the street for a quick look.”
As well as Clooney, DiCaprio follows in the footsteps of former US president Bill Clinton, who delivered the same address in 2013, and British entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson in 2014.
