Dalkeith residents are being urged to check their gardens and outbuildings as the search continues for a local missing man.

Ronald Pryde (73) was last seen getting off the No33 LRT bus in Lauder Road around 1.30pm on Monday, September 2.

He had been with his wife at Edinburgh Royal Infimary earlier in the day.

She returned expecting her husband to be at home. However, he was not within the house and has not been seen of heard from since.

Officers are asking residents in Lauder Road and surrounding streets to search their gardens and outbuildings to assist the police search.

Mr Pryde is white, 5ft 11in tall, with short brown greying hair, of slim build and a predominant hunch when walking.

He was last seen wearing black trousers, black shoes, light grey polo shirt and blue waist-length jacket with grey collar.

Inspector Michelle Ritchie from Police Scotland, said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Mr Pryde’s safety, as he has not been in contact with his family, which is out of character for him.

“We are undertaking search activity in the local area as we try to locate him, and are asking local residents to help by checking gardens and outbuildings.

“If anyone has seen him, or may know where he is, then they should contact police immediately, as his family are extremely worried about him.”
