Police hunt for rapist after Dalkeith woman is attacked in her own home

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault in her Dalkeith home.

The incident happened within her home at Allan Terrace in the early hours of Sunday. August 5.

The victim, who is in her 20s, had visited licensed premises in the area of Newmills Road just before midnight, and had returned home around 12.20am.

The suspect entered her house a short time later, and attacked her.

He is described as white, in his mid 20s, tanned complexion, 6ft tall, with a muscular build, and short dark hair. He was wearing dark coloured jeans, a short sleeved top, and had a number of tattoos, including one on his left arm of an animal with distinctive red eyes.

Detective Chief Inspector Kenny Gray, from Lothian and Borders Police, said: “The victim has suffered a terrifying ordeal at the hands of the suspect, and she is currently being cared for by family.”
