Police launch new crackdown

POLICE are set to launch a week-long crackdown on crime in a Lothian town.

Officers will carry out extra high-visibility patrols and road checks in the Boghall area of Bathgate, West Lothian, with the campaign getting under way on Monday.

The scheme will also involve promoting school safety, conducting home crime prevention surveys, and tackling dog fouling.

Lothian and Borders’ Inspector Ian Moffat said: “We hope this initiative will encourage local people to take a pride in their neighbourhood.”
